What is Shockwave Therapy?

In short, Shockwave does many things at once, very well, to harness your own body’s innate ability to heal itself.

By saying “shock” we are led to believe that this implies an electrical current.  But the “shock” in Shockwave is more about an impact wave that travels extremely quickly through your tissues.

You can summarize the effects of Shockwave by the following five headings: The Shockwave causes cavitation (creation and popping of microscopic gas bubbles) in the tissue, imparts a deep vibration, increases circulation, physically breaks down adhesions and scar tissue, and evokes a complicated series of biochemical reactions all to wake up your body’s own healing mechanisms.
